Gil Marks

American food writer and historian (1952–2014)

Gil Marks was a renowned American food writer and historian, specializing in the realm of Jewish cuisine. His expertise in this field led to the creation of notable reference and cookbooks, showcasing his in-depth knowledge of Jewish food. Marks' contributions to the culinary world also included his role as the founding editor of Kosher Gourmet magazine, a publication that highlighted the nuances of kosher cuisine.

Marks' life took a significant turn when he relocated to Israel and became a citizen in 2012. Unfortunately, his life was cut short when he passed away on December 5, 2014, due to lung cancer. He spent his final days at the hospice in Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem, a city that had become his home in the last years of his life.
