Max Théon

Polish Hermetic Kabbalist (1848–1927)

Max Théon was a Polish Jewish Kabbalist and occultist, born in 1848. His life's work was deeply rooted in the field of Judaism, with a particular focus on Hermetic Kabbalah. Although his birth name is believed to have been Louis-Maximilian Bimstein, he is widely recognized by his pseudonym, Max Théon.

Théon's influence extended to London, where he played a role in inspiring the formation of The Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor in 1884. However, his involvement with the organization appears to have been limited, and he seemed to have had little direct involvement in its daily operations or the development of its teachings. Despite this, Théon's legacy as a prominent figure in the realm of Hermetic Kabbalah has endured, with his work continuing to be of interest to those exploring the intersections of Judaism and occultism, until his death in 1927.
